Located near Lake Natron in northern Tanzania, this trek offers a rare chance to ascend an active volcano while immersing yourself in breathtaking scenery and cultural heritage. The climb is challenging but rewarding, with panoramic views of the Rift Valley, Lake Natron, and even Kilimanjaro on clear days.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1: Moshi –
Arusha – Ngare Sero
Depart Moshi and drive through Arusha, enjoying a scenic journey across the Great Rift Valley. En route, experience a game drive and arrive at Ngare Sero near Lake Natron. Overnight at Ngosek Guest House. Highlights: Scenic drive, wildlife encounters, cultural immersion.

Day 2:
Summit Mount Oldonyo Lengai
Late evening transfer to the base of the volcano. Begin your ascent around 10:30 PM, trekking under the stars. The climb takes 5–6 hours, reaching the summit by sunrise. From the peak, marvel at views of Lake Natron, the Serengeti plains, and volcanic landscapes. If conditions allow, descend into the active crater to witness Lengai’s unique carbonatite lava. Return to Ngare Sero for rest.

Day 3:
Lake Natron – Return to Arusha/Moshi
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning at Lake Natron, famous for its flamingos and striking alkaline waters. Lunch at Ngare Sero before driving back to Arusha or Moshi.
