Day 1: Arusha to Katesh – Mount Hanang Trek
Your Mount Hanang trekking adventure in Tanzania begins with a morning drive from Arusha to Katesh, a scenic town in the Manyara region at the foot of Mount Hanang.
The area is home to the Iraqw and Barbaig communities, offering a chance to experience the region’s rich culture and traditions. With hundreds of bird species recorded, Mount Hanang is also an excellent destination for birdwatching in Tanzania.
Rising to 3,420 metres, Mount Hanang is Tanzania’s fourth-highest mountain and offers spectacular views across the Great Rift Valley. After lunch, begin your ascent toward the mountain campsite, enjoying the changing landscapes along the trail.

Day 2: Mount Hanang Summit – Arusha
Start the morning with a spectacular sunrise from the summit of Mount Hanang, enjoying panoramic views across the Great Rift Valley. After a picnic breakfast at the peak, begin your descent down the mountain.
Once back at the trailhead, continue your journey to Arusha, where your Mount Hanang trekking adventure in Tanzania comes to an end.
