The city offers a unique blend of modern urban life and nearby wilderness. Nairobi National Park, located just outside the city centre, is home to diverse wildlife including lions, giraffes, zebras, and the endangered black rhinoceros. Depending on your arrival time and itinerary, you may also have the opportunity to visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, renowned for its elephant conservation and orphan rehabilitation work.
Relax at your hotel and prepare for the exciting East African safari adventure ahead.
Day 2-3: Amboseli National Park
Depart Nairobi and drive south to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations and a spectacular setting for wildlife viewing beneath the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is particularly renowned for its large elephant herds, while the surrounding plains support lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and an impressive variety of birdlife.
Arrive at your lodge, beautifully positioned among acacia trees with views towards Kilimanjaro. After lunch, set out on your first Amboseli game drive, exploring the park’s open savannahs, acacia woodlands, wetlands, and seasonal lakebed in search of wildlife. As the afternoon light settles across the plains, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, rising dramatically beyond the park.
Return to your lodge in the evening and enjoy a memorable dinner as you begin your Kenya and Tanzania safari adventure.
Day 4: Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania
Cross the border from Kenya into Tanzania and continue to the charming city of Arusha, beautifully situated at the foothills of Mount Meru and serving as the gateway to Tanzania’s renowned Northern Safari Circuit.
This afternoon, visit the Canines for Conservation training centre for a unique behind-the-scenes experience. Meet the specially trained K-9 conservation team and learn how these remarkable dogs help detect illegal wildlife products in cargo and luggage, supporting efforts to protect Tanzania’s precious wildlife and natural heritage.
Later, return to your hotel and unwind with a refreshing scenic sundowner overlooking the landscapes of Arusha before dinner.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Today, venture into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater on a private full-day game drive accompanied by your experienced safari guide. Recognized as one of Tanzania’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations, this vast volcanic caldera is surrounded by dramatic landscapes and fertile grasslands that support an exceptional concentration of wildlife.
Descend into the crater and explore its diverse habitats, from open plains and wetlands to woodlands and the shimmering soda lake. The Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros can all be found within the Ngorongoro ecosystem, alongside large herds of zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, and other plains game.
Day 6 to 8: Explore The Serengeti National Park
Spend three unforgettable days exploring the Northern Serengeti, one of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife regions. With your private safari guide, venture across vast open plains, rolling hills, river valleys, woodlands, and remote wilderness areas in search of the Serengeti’s remarkable diversity of wildlife.
The Northern Serengeti is particularly renowned for the Great Migration during the appropriate season, when vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move through the region towards the Mara River and the border with Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Depending on the timing of your visit and wildlife movements, you may have the opportunity to witness dramatic river-crossing activity, one of East Africa’s most memorable safari experiences.
Day 9 to 11: Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya
Leave the Northern Serengeti behind and fly to Kenya’s legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of East Africa’s most renowned wildlife destinations. Known for its sweeping savannahs, rich wildlife populations, and excellent year-round game viewing, the Maasai Mara provides a spectacular continuation of your luxury Kenya and Tanzania safari.
After arriving and settling into your luxury tented accommodation, head out on your first Maasai Mara game drive. Explore vast grasslands, acacia woodlands, riverine habitats, and scenic valleys while searching for the reserve’s extraordinary wildlife.
